The Chimbote Foundation, part of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, was created to provide a bridge of love, hope, faith, and financial support to care for the poorest of the poor in Chimbote through the Center for Social Works--a maternity hospital, outpatient clinic, clinical laboratory, pharmacy and home for abandoned and neglected children--serving hundreds of thousands since the mid-1960s.
WTAE-TV news anchor Mike Clark again volunteered to serve as master of ceremonies at the dinner. The evening’s presentations included comments from Chimbote Mission co-founders Sister Margaret Mary Birchmeier and Sister Lillian Bockheim. clergy from the Diocese of Chimbote, and Bishop David Zubik.
