Parish Center, Lower Level
800 Avila Court
Open Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Library was created in 2021 by merging the former parish libraries at St. Teresa, St. Sebastian and St. Athanasius churches. Parishioner Linda Ludwig supervised the effort and manages the library.
Earlier this year, the Knights of Columbus moved all the books from St. Sebastian and St. Athanasius to what was already a spiritual library at St. Teresa. (A BIG task!) We also had to bring in more shelves to house all the books.
Then, a great team of volunteer parishioners sorted the books into general categories including Spirituality, Prayer, Christianity, Catholicism, the Saints, Sacraments, the Mass, the Priesthood, Healing, Suffering, Bereavement, Social Justice, Popes, Novels, Inspirational, Private Revelation, Biblical Interpretation, and more. The library also offers a number of DVDs and CDs.
We have books to create a Children's and Youth Library as well, and will house that in the Parish Center in the not-too-distant future.
Checking out books is very informal. Just record the books you are borrowing along with your contact information in the ledger in the library. When you are finished, return the books to the basket in the library and cross off your name in the ledger.
Please note that we also accept donations of books with a spiritual theme. Just drop them off at the library or the Parish Center reception desk.
