If we are called to imitate God’s love, we must first understand and experience it for ourselves. That starts all the way in the beginning, with the very act of creation One of the most striking things about the creation accounts in Genesis, as opposed to the mythologies of the ancient Mediterranean world, is how unnecessary God’s act of creation was.
In minor seminary, a man begins to cultivate a rhythm of prayer, study philosophy, and live in community. In major seminary, he continues his spiritual, human, pastoral, and intellectual formation with graduate-level theological studies and seminary activities.

I said last week that the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ, is ultimately a story about the love of God. And not just any love, but “the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God” (to take one worship song as our guide). So, the first thing we must do is understand what love is.
